Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends

Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends is the fourth studio album by British band Coldplay, released on June 12, 2008 on the Parlophone label. The album was named after a Spanish phrase that best translates into English as “Long live life”. Lyrically, the album contains references to love, life, death and war.

Range: nostalgia

One of my favorite albums. As a child, this album was one of the few I had, and I would play it on several road trips. This one holds a very special place in my heart.

  • Life In Technicolor: the instruments are very nice but the track is short compared to its sibling
  • Lovers In Japan: SOOO underrated
  • Chinese Sleep Chant: latter half of Yes, but I like it much better. Secret shoegaze-y track.
  • Viva La Vida: default, everyone likes this one and so do I.
  • Violet Hill: Can be read as a protest song against the Iraq war :wowzers:
  • Death & All HIs Friends: Amazing ending track
  • The Escapist: Shoegaze-y peaceful ending track, same as beginning part of Life in Technicolor
